Deaths at Andhra Medical College Renew Mental Health Concerns

Two medical students at Andhra Medical College died within five days in September.

One was a first-year ENT student, and the other was a final-year General Medicine student.

Police are investigating both cases.

The state government has also ordered a detailed inquiry.

Relatives mentioned problems connected with studies and examinations.

College officials said the institution had counselling services and had not received formal complaints about academic or personal problems.

Another postgraduate student had died earlier in the year.

These incidents have increased concern about student mental health.

A national survey found that many students in higher education had recently experienced serious stress or emotional distress.
