Over 600 Non-Locals Purchased Land in Jammu and Kashmir Post Article 370 Abrogation
After a special status for Jammu and Kashmir ended in August 2019, people from other parts of India were allowed to buy land there.
Since then, over 600 people from outside the region have bought land.
They spent a lot of money, over 129 crore rupees, to buy almost 387 pieces of land.
Most of this land was bought in the Jammu area, which is part of the region.
In the Kashmir area, fewer people bought land, but they still spent a good amount of money.
The government shared this information in the assembly.
No land was given to outsiders for big projects like malls or hospitals, only for private purchase.
More people started buying land in 2021, and the amount of money spent has gone up each year since then.
631 non-locals have purchased land in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.
A total of 386 kanals and 128 square feet of land has been bought by these individuals.
The total value of these land transactions amounts to over ₹129.97 crore.
The Jammu division saw more transactions, with 378 non-local buyers acquiring land valued at over ₹90.48 crore.
No land has been allotted to non-residents for commercial purposes like shopping malls, hospitals, or colleges.
