Bengal Police Arrest Rejinagar Bypoll Candidate in 2021 Clash Case
Police arrested Saiful Islam, a candidate in the Rejinagar election in West Bengal.
The case concerns a fight between two groups during the 2021 state election.

Independent Rejinagar bypoll candidate Saiful Islam was arrested in connection with a clash during the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.
Islam is associated with Humayun Kabir’s Aam Janata Unnayan Party, which has nominated Kabir’s son Golam Nabi Azad in Rejinagar.
The arrest came a day after Congress Nandigram candidate Milan Pradhan was detained in an older land-acquisition protest case.
Police also directed Aam Janata Unnayan Party leader Humayun Kabir to appear in a case alleging a conspiracy to inflame tensions between communities.
A party state secretary and another man were arrested in Murshidabad while allegedly carrying counterfeit currency and illegal arms, police said.
