Assam Sanctions 3 Lakh Houses Under PMAY-G
The Assam government has given approval for more than 3 lakh families to build their own homes under a special program called PMAY-G.
The Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, said this is a very important day because many people will soon have their own safe and strong houses.
The government is working hard to make sure these houses are built quickly and that families in need, especially those living in areas prone to floods or erosion, get the help they need.
The program also aims to improve things like clean water, electricity, and access to other important services.
The government is committed to making sure everyone in Assam has a good place to live.
Nationally, the Centre has handed over 95.54 lakh houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, showing a significant effort to provide housing for the poor across India.
Over 3 lakh families in Assam received sanction letters for houses under PMAY-G.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called it a historic day for the state.
The government is accelerating the implementation of PMAY to complete pending housing units and expand coverage.
Assam has recorded one of the highest uptakes of PMAY-Gramin in the Northeast.
The transition to pucca housing is particularly significant for economically weaker families in flood-prone or erosion-affected areas.
