PDS Rice Seizures in Khammam and Karnataka
Police in Khammam found a lot of rice that was meant for poor people but was being stored illegally.
They caught one man, Mirza Jilani Baig, and took the rice.
Another man, Mirza Musharraf, ran away.
The rice is worth about ₹1.3 lakh.
Meanwhile, in Karnataka, the BJP says rice meant for poor people is being stolen and sold in other places, even in Singapore.
The government says they have seized a lot of stolen rice and registered many cases.
The BJP wants a special team to investigate this.
Task Force police seized 40 quintals of PDS rice from a house in Patha Mittapally, Khammam.
Mirza Jilani Baig was arrested for illegally storing the rice, while Mirza Musharraf escaped.
The seized rice in Khammam is valued at approximately ₹1.3 lakh.
In Karnataka, 29.60 lakh kg of stolen PDS rice was seized during the 2025-26 financial year, with 461 FIRs registered.
BJP alleges that rice meant for the Anna Bhagya scheme is being smuggled to other states and countries, with a 25 kg rice bag costing Rs 8,000 in Singapore.
