GOP Senators Postpone Blanche Attorney General Vote
Todd Blanche, who has been acting as the U.S. Attorney General, was nominated by President Trump to become the permanent Attorney General.
The Senate Judiciary Committee was supposed to vote on his nomination, but two Republican senators, John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, said they would not support him unless the government promised to shut down a $1.776 billion fund that was part of a settlement with Trump.
They also wanted more details about a tax‑immunity deal.
Because one Republican vote can block the nomination, the committee postponed the vote to try to get enough support.
The committee chair said they would try again once the concerns were addressed.
