Shillong's Police Bazaar to Become Pedestrian Zone After Vendors Relocate
The Police Bazaar in Shillong is going to be a place where only people can walk, like a park.
This is happening because the people who sell things on the streets have been moved to a new place.
From 7 in the morning to 9 at night, cars won't be allowed, except for people who live there and need to drop off their kids at school, and in emergencies.
The government is also giving the street vendors some money as part of the move.
The High Court is happy with how the government is handling the changes.
Police Bazaar in Shillong will become a pedestrian zone after hawker relocation.
282 hawkers and street vendors have been moved to the Meghalaya Urban Development Authority Complex.
Vehicular traffic will be restricted from 7 AM to 9 PM, except for residents and emergencies.
The Meghalaya High Court is satisfied with the hawker relocation process.
