UP Expands Cashless Health Scheme for Teachers, Staff
The Uttar Pradesh government started a new program to help teachers and school workers get free medical care.
It began in July 2026 and covers all teachers, staff, and their families.
Most people signed up quickly, and they can now go to certain hospitals and not pay out of pocket.
The state is checking that everyone gets signed up and wants to cover all eligible people soon.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Yojana in July 2026 for teachers and staff across all education departments.
Within 22 days of launch for Basic and Secondary Education, 42% of eligible teachers completed e‑KYC; 4 days after Higher Education launch, 47% of beneficiaries completed e‑KYC.
Over 540,000 teachers, non‑teaching staff and dependents have registered, covering 12.9 million eligible personnel statewide.
The scheme provides cashless treatment at empanelled hospitals once e‑KYC is completed.
The government is monitoring progress at district and institutional levels to reach 100% coverage.
