West Bengal CM accuses Left, TMC of eroding Hindu traditions

West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said earlier governments did not give enough importance to Bengali Hindu traditions.

He criticized the Left Front and the Trinamool Congress.

He said Hindu books, festivals and religious practices were pushed aside during the Left Front’s rule.

He also said the Trinamool Congress created divisions between communities.

Adhikari said his BJP government wants to bring back traditional practices for festivals such as Durga Puja.

He asked people to follow the traditional calendar for important religious days.

He said festivals such as Ganesh Puja should be celebrated by people everywhere, not only by one region or community.

He also spoke about the imprisoned Bangladeshi Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu.

The Trinamool Congress had criticized the BJP a day earlier over what it called silence on the monk’s situation.
