CAB Elections Fade as Key Posts Receive No Nominations
The Cricket Association of Bengal has three important posts that need to be filled.
No one had officially applied for these posts by Tuesday.
Wednesday is the final day to submit nominations.
Because of this, the September 24 meeting may happen without an election.
Some district cricket bodies have questioned whether certain people should be allowed to vote.
Their concerns involve members over 70 and members who have completed nine-year terms.
Police visited Eden Gardens after allegations that nomination documents may have been forged.
The association may continue with only three office-bearers, unless someone challenges the situation in court.
No nominations had been filed by Tuesday for the Cricket Association of Bengal secretary, joint secretary and apex council member posts.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, making elections at the September 24 annual general meeting appear unlikely.
A senior CAB official said the state government’s top brass had insisted that elections most likely not take place.
Six of the 18 affiliated districts questioned voting-right compliance involving people over 70 and those completing nine-year terms.
Maidan police visited Eden Gardens over allegations of forgery connected to nominations, while possible legal action remains under consideration.
