21 Indian Toll Plazas to Go Barrier-Free
The Indian government is introducing a new system at 21 toll plazas where cars won't need to stop to pay tolls.
Instead, special cameras and FASTags will automatically collect the toll as vehicles pass by.
This system is being set up in several states, including Delhi and nearby areas.
It aims to make travel smoother and faster by reducing traffic jams at toll booths.
The government is also planning stricter penalties for those who don't pay their tolls on time.
This change is part of a bigger plan to improve how tolls are collected across the country.
21 toll plazas across India, including 5 in Delhi-NCR, to implement barrier-less tolling system.
RFP invited or finalized for 21 plazas, with 15 already awarded and 6 under bidding.
Technology used includes ANPR for reading number plates and FASTag for automatic toll deduction.
Penalties for delayed payment include doubling the toll amount after 7 days.
Aim is to reduce congestion, eliminate cash transactions, and provide seamless travel experience.
