Bactrian Camels and Indian Dog Breeds Debut in Republic Day Parade

For the first time, two special double-humped Bactrian camels and some brave Indian dog breeds will be part of the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi on 26 January 2026.

These camels, which are very strong and can carry heavy loads in the cold, high places of Ladakh, were added to the Indian Army in 2024.

They will march along with four Zanskar ponies, some trained birds of prey, and ten special Indian dogs.

These dogs, like the Mudhol hounds and Rampur hounds, are very good at finding explosives and helping in emergencies.

The parade will show how these animals help the army and celebrate India’s own strong and smart breeds.
