Delhi School Fee Regulation Act Takes Effect
The Delhi government has started a new law to control school fees.
This law makes sure that private schools cannot charge extra fees without permission.
Parents must be part of the decision-making process, and at least 15% of them must complain to start a review.
There are three committees to check and approve the fees: one at the school level, one at the district level, and one at the highest level.
Schools must show all their financial details and follow strict rules about what fees they can charge.
If parents are not happy with the fees, they can appeal to higher committees.
This law aims to make sure schools are fair and transparent about their fees.
The law also sets limits on how much schools can charge for things like registration, admission, and development fees.
Schools cannot make money from extra services and must keep separate accounts for each type of fee.
Any extra money collected must be returned to the parents.
The Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fees) Act, 2025, took effect on Wednesday, 2025.
At least 15% of affected parents must complain to initiate a fee review by the District-level Committee.
The Act establishes a three-tier committee structure for fee regulation: School-level, District, and Revision Committees.
Private unaided schools must itemize and disclose all permissible fees and cannot collect excess fees.
The Revision Committee, the highest authority, can issue final, binding orders applicable for three academic years.
