Preparations Underway for SIR Hearing
A meeting happened to plan for something called SIR hearings.
These hearings are important for making sure voting lists are correct.
The meeting was attended by government officials and representatives from different political parties.
The government suggested having hearings in five places in each area, but one party, the TMC, wanted more places so that people from far-away areas can easily attend.
The TMC said that if there are only five places, it will be hard for poor people to reach the hearings.
An all-party meeting was held to prepare for the second phase of SIR hearings.
The meeting was attended by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and representatives from recognized political parties.
The district administration proposed conducting hearings at five locations per constituency.
The TMC demanded at least 10 locations per constituency for better accessibility.
The TMC argued that five locations would make it difficult for poor people in remote areas to attend.
