IIT-B Intervention Ensures Smooth Indore Metro Launch
Imagine building a tall building, but the ground supports aren't strong enough.
That's what happened with the Indore Metro's foundation.
In 2022, the concrete pillars weren't built correctly, with gaps at the bottom.
IIT-Bombay stepped in to help.
They found the problems and came up with a fix by adding more supports and changing the design.
This made the Metro safe.
Their work was published in a science journal.
Indore's new 6-km Metro line opened on May 31, from Gandhi Nagar to Super Corridor Station-3.
IIT-Bombay intervened in 2022 after initial pile foundation tests failed.
Engineers found concrete in many piles hadn't fully reached the bottom.
IIT-B proposed supplementary piles and redesigned the pile cap.
The findings of the intervention were published in a journal.
