J&K CM Approves Heritage Courses to Preserve Traditional Crafts
Jammu and Kashmir's leader, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, has started a new program to help keep old, traditional crafts alive.
The program will offer classes in seven different traditional crafts at 15 schools across the region.
A total of 500 students can join these classes, with 20 students in each group.
Students will get a small amount of money each month to help them out, and teachers will also be paid.
This is a way for the government to protect old skills, help young people learn them, and give them jobs related to these crafts.
The Chief Minister believes these crafts are important for the area's culture and can provide good jobs.
The Jammu and Kashmir government has launched craft heritage courses in technical institutions to revive and preserve traditional crafts.
The 'Chief Minister's Scheme for Introduction of Heritage Courses' will offer seven traditional craft courses across 25 units.
A total of 500 students will be admitted to these courses in government ITIs and polytechnics across Jammu and Kashmir.
Students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,000, while instructors will be paid Rs. 15,000 for theory and Rs. 12,000 for practical classes.
The initiative aims to safeguard traditional skills, encourage youth participation in heritage-linked livelihoods, and create employment opportunities.
