India Developing Extended-Range BrahMos and New BrahMos-NG Missile
India is working on making its BrahMos missiles even better.
They are extending the range of the current missiles to 800km.
They are also building a new, smaller version called BrahMos-NG that can be launched from airplanes and can be mounted on the LCA Tejas fighter jet.
The new missile will be much lighter.
The current air-launched version has already been used effectively by the Indian Air Force.
This is part of India's plan to improve its defense capabilities with advanced missile technology.
The project is a collaboration between India and Russia.
Development of the BrahMos-NG, a compact air-launched missile, is in advanced stages.
The range of the original BrahMos missile is being extended to 800 km.
The BrahMos-NG is expected to be ready for flight testing in about a year.
The BrahMos-NG will be lighter, allowing aircraft like the LCA Tejas to carry it.
The BrahMos missile is a joint venture between India and Russia.
