Shoppers Stop Q1 Loss Narrows Amid Resilient Premium Demand
Shoppers Stop, India's oldest department store chain, reported a smaller net loss for the June quarter (Q1FY27) compared to the same period last year.
This improvement was due to strong demand for beauty products and premium clothing, especially because of the wedding season.
The company's revenue increased by 11.2% to Rs 1,291 crore, and it opened eight new stores, including two department stores and four beauty outlets.
Despite higher sales, the company's operating costs also increased, leading to a slight drop in profit margins.
Shoppers Stop is focusing on its premiumisation strategy, beauty business, and value fashion format Intune, which are driving growth.
The company also reduced its inventory and debt during the quarter.
