YSRCP Protests Nellore District Reorganisation
People in Nellore, India, are very upset because the government wants to move three areas (Kaluvayi, Rapur, and Saidapuram) from Nellore district to Tirupati district.
A former minister, Dr. Kakani Govardhan Reddy, says this is unfair because these areas are connected to Nellore in many ways, like farming and water.
He also says the government promised to keep these areas in Nellore before the elections but is now changing its mind.
The people are worried because they will have to travel far to reach the new district headquarters, and it will make farming and other things harder.
The former minister is blaming the leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for not listening to the people and causing trouble in the area.
The YSRCP is planning to launch a protest soon to oppose this decision.
YSRCP leaders, including former minister Dr. Kakani Govardhan Reddy, protested the separation of Kaluvayi, Rapur, and Saidapuram mandals from Nellore district.
The areas are proposed to be merged with Tirupati district, which would require residents to travel 150 km to the new district headquarters.
Govardhan Reddy accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of ignoring public sentiment and reneging on pre-election promises to retain Gudur constituency in Nellore.
The reorganisation is expected to disrupt irrigation and revenue linkages, particularly impacting Sarvepalli farmers.
Govardhan Reddy criticised TDP leaders for not exerting enough pressure on the Chief Minister to prevent the reorganisation.
