CAT Issues Contempt Notice to Cabinet Secretary in IFS Officer's Appraisal Case

Imagine a government worker named Mr. Chaturvedi who investigated some serious corruption cases.

He believes his boss didn't like his work and gave him a bad performance review because of it.

Mr. Chaturvedi then asked a special court, the CAT, to see some documents about his investigations.

The court agreed, and told the boss and others to give him the documents.

The boss and others didn't give the documents at first because the High Court paused this request, but the High Court later said that the boss still had to.

When they still didn’t provide the papers, the special court, the CAT, got mad and issued a contempt notice to the boss and some other officials.

This means the court thinks they’re ignoring its orders and might punish them.
