Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Fail to Agree on Krishna Water Sharing

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana share water from the Krishna River.

They met with the Krishna River Management Board to decide how much water each state should receive.

The states could not agree on a sharing formula.

Andhra Pradesh wants 66% of the water, while Telangana wants an equal 50:50 split for now.

Andhra Pradesh says it needs 104 tmc ft for drinking water.

Telangana says it needs 200 tmc ft.

Each state accused the other of taking more water than it should.

The reservoirs currently have only about 142 tmc ft available between them.

Another meeting is planned later this month.
