Arrest Warrant Sought for Uddhav Thackeray
Uddhav Thackeray, a former leader in Maharashtra, India, was asked to give a letter to a special group looking into a violent event that happened in 2018.
The group, called the Koregaon Bhima Inquiry Commission, wanted the letter from Thackeray because another leader, Sharad Pawar, said he no longer had it.
Thackeray did not show up or send the letter, so some lawyers asked for a warrant to arrest him.
The group is still deciding what to do.
They have more time, until next March, to finish their work.
Uddhav Thackeray was asked to submit a letter related to the 2018 Koregaon Bhima violence but did not appear or submit the document.
Lawyers representing Adv. Prakash Ambedkar filed an application for an arrest warrant against Thackeray.
The Koregaon Bhima Inquiry Commission has not yet decided on the request for the arrest warrant.
The commission's term has been extended until March 2025 to complete its proceedings.
Sharad Pawar, another leader, informed the commission that he no longer had a copy of the letter he reportedly wrote to Thackeray.
