Small-time actor arrested after alleged Mumbai gold-chain snatching

Police in Mumbai arrested a small-time actor after a gold chain was allegedly taken from an elderly woman.

The incident happened inside the woman’s home in Santacruz on Sunday.

Police initially had difficulty because there were no cameras or witnesses at the exact location.

They checked cameras in nearby lanes instead.

Officers saw a person who appeared suspicious and was wearing a disguise.

Information from local sources helped police find and arrest Ashish Attarchand Sharma.

Police say the stolen chain was recovered from him.

They also say he told investigators that financial problems led him to steal.
