MP Seeks Gadkari’s Help for Silchar Highway Upgrades
A politician from Assam wants the government to fix the roads around Silchar.
Currently, cars have to take a long detour, making trips slower and more expensive.
To fix this, the politician suggested building a new, faster road and widening an existing one.
This would help traffic flow better and boost the local economy.
The government is also working to finish a big road project by 2026.
The politician met with the Minister in charge to discuss these plans and present a detailed map of the proposed projects.
MP Kanad Purkayastha requested Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to address highway concerns in Silchar.
The primary issue is a 27-kilometer detour for vehicles from the East-West Corridor.
Purkayastha proposed a 4-lane highway connecting ISBT Silchar to the East-West Corridor.
He also suggested upgrading the Silchar Bypass to a 4-lane route.
Gadkari assured the East-West Corridor mega project will be completed by 2026.
