US Rejects Iran Talks Until Commercial Ship Attacks End

The United States says it will not talk with Iran while Iran is attacking commercial ships.

The ships travel through the Strait of Hormuz, an important route for oil and gas.

The United States says it is working to keep energy moving through the strait.

J.D. Vance said 15 million barrels of oil passed through the waterway the previous night.

He said the United States will not announce when its operations will end.

Washington says it could use economic, military, diplomatic or secret pressure against Iran.

Vance also said several countries, including China and Gulf states, were helping pressure Tehran.

He said the larger goals are protecting ships and stopping Iran from restoring its nuclear capabilities.
