Chandigarh Court Rejects Bail for Accused in Fake ITC Scam
A man named Manmohan Singh, accused of a big tax scam involving fake invoices, asked a court in Chandigarh to let him out on bail temporarily because he's sick.
He had a stroke and needs special care.
The court said no, because he can get medical help in jail.
The court also said that if Singh isn't happy with the medical care in jail, he can ask to be treated in a private hospital, but he'll have to pay for it himself.
Chandigarh court denied interim bail to Manmohan Singh, accused in a Rs 30-crore fake ITC scam.
Singh, arrested by DGGI, allegedly orchestrated fake invoices for ineligible ITC.
Singh's counsel cited his high blood pressure, paralytic stroke, and need for intensive care.
The state counsel argued adequate medical care is available at Model Jail, Burail.
The court ruled medical needs can be met in jail but allowed Singh to seek treatment at a private hospital at his own expense.
