Calcutta Records Season's Lowest Temperature at 18.2°C Amidst Cold Spell

It's getting colder in Calcutta, India!

On Tuesday, the city experienced its chilliest night and morning of the year so far, with the temperature dropping to 18.2 degrees Celsius.

This is colder than it usually is at this time.

People were seen wearing extra layers of clothing after sunset.

Even the daytime temperature was cooler than normal, making the days feel quite pleasant.

Some areas outside the main city were even colder.

For instance, the Birbhum district in south Bengal recorded temperatures close to 14 degrees, while Darjeeling in the north was much colder at 9.2 degrees.

Weather officials say this cold weather is due to cold, dry winds blowing from the north.

This cold trend is happening across many parts of India.

They expect Calcutta to stay cool for the next five to six days, with temperatures staying around 17 to 19 degrees at night and 28 to 30 degrees during the day.

There's no rain expected either, so the chilly feel should continue.
