Rajasthan Forms Committee to Examine Ethanol Factory Pollution Concerns
The Rajasthan government has made a team of five people to check if a new ethanol factory in Rathi-khera village is causing pollution.
Farmers and local groups are worried that the factory might use too much groundwater and make the soil and water dirty.
The factory says it uses special technology that won't pollute water.
There was a big protest where people got hurt, and a meeting with farmers was held recently.
The team will look into these concerns and give a report.
Rajasthan Government formed a five-member committee to examine pollution concerns from an ethanol factory in Rathi-khera village.
The committee, headed by the Divisional Commissioner of Bikaner, will assess objections raised by farmers and local organizations.
Farmers fear groundwater depletion and contamination, as well as soil pollution from the factory's effluents.
The factory management claims the unit will use zero-liquid-discharge technology to prevent water pollution.
A violent protest on December 10 resulted in injuries, and a Kisan Mahapanchayat was held on Wednesday.
