Turkey Sentences 11 to Life for Deadly Ski Resort Hotel Fire
A court in Turkey has given life sentences to 11 people because of a big fire at a hotel in a snowy mountain area where people go skiing.
The fire happened a while ago and sadly killed 78 people, and many of them were children.
The hotel was very tall, like a big building with 12 floors, and the fire started on one of the floors.
When the fire started in the middle of the night, people staying at the hotel had to jump out of windows to escape.
The people who got sentenced include the owner of the hotel, other people who worked there, and even a deputy mayor and some firefighters.
This is because people think the hotel didn't have enough safety things to stop the fire or help people get out safely.
A Turkish court sentenced 11 people to life in prison for a fire that killed 78 people at the Grand Kartal Hotel.
The victims included 34 children, and 137 people were injured in the blaze.
The fire occurred at a ski resort in the Bolu Mountains during school holidays.
Among those sentenced are the hotel owner, managers, staff, a deputy mayor, and fire brigade personnel.
Independent experts suggested the hotel lacked basic fire safety measures.
