US-Iran War Escalates As Gulf States Shelve Hormuz Talks

The conflict involving the United States and Iran is getting worse in several parts of the Middle East.

Gulf countries have paused discussions with Iran about ships using the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States says an oil tanker was attacked by an Iranian missile and then a drone.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards gave a different explanation involving a naval mine, but the US military called that claim false.

The tanker is being towed by a regional partner.

In Yemen, the Houthi movement says Saudi Arabia carried out 54 airstrikes in one day.

The Houthis had earlier said they launched attacks at Saudi military sites.

President Donald Trump said the United States could still talk with Iran.

A Pentagon watchdog also said the war is reducing supplies of some advanced US weapons and damaging facilities in the region.
