ANPR Cameras Proposed to Reduce Mishaps on Greenfield Highway

ANPR Cameras Proposed to Reduce Mishaps on Greenfield Highway

The Khammam-Devarapalli highway has had some accidents.

NHAI wants to add cameras that can read vehicle number plates.

The cameras would also check how fast vehicles are traveling.

Cars must stay at or below 100 kmph, while trucks must stay at or below 80 kmph.

If a vehicle goes too fast, the police could send a challan to its registered mobile number.

The highway already has cameras and signs that warn drivers when they are speeding.

NHAI says some crashes happen because drivers become sleepy on the long, quiet road.

Other crashes are linked to trucks parked illegally and cars traveling much faster than the limit.

Officials say accidents are gradually decreasing as drivers get used to the road.
