India to Deploy Indigenous Air Defence System for Delhi-NCR
India is planning to use its own air defence system to protect Delhi from threats like missiles and drones.
This system, called IADWS, will use Indian-made missiles and technology.
Earlier, India considered buying a system from the US, but it was too expensive.
The new system will be managed by the Indian Air Force and developed by the DRDO.
India is also working on other advanced missile systems to strengthen its defences.
India is deploying an indigenous Integrated Air Defence Weapon System (IADWS) to protect Delhi-NCR from aerial threats.
The system will use Indian-made missiles like QRSAM and VSHORADS, along with other associated equipment.
The Defence Ministry is processing the project, with the DRDO and production agencies working on networking and command control.
India initially considered the US-made NASAMS-II but rejected it due to high costs.
India is also developing long-range SAMs under project Kusha and considering more S-400 and S-500 systems from Russia.
