BJP Accuses Trinamool of Kolkata Slum Fire
A fire destroyed around 300 huts in a slum in Kolkata.
The BJP, a political party, said the ruling Trinamool Congress might have caused the fire.
This slum was previously called 'mini Bangladesh' because many people from Bangladesh lived there.
Some of these people left when the government started checking voter lists.
The voter list check removed many names, saying some people were dead, had moved away, or were missing.
The BJP is looking for Rohingya refugees in the area.
A fire destroyed around 300 huts in a slum in Kolkata on 17 December.
BJP's Amit Malviya accused the ruling Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the fire.
The slum was previously called 'mini Bangladesh' due to the presence of Bangladeshi immigrants.
The special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls led to an exodus of undocumented immigrants.
The draft voter list revealed 58.17 lakh voters were deleted, with various reasons given for their removal.
