Jaswant Singh Rawat’s Ancestral Home Set to Become Museum

Jaswant Singh Rawat was a soldier in the Garhwal Rifles.

He was killed in 1962 while fighting Chinese forces.

He was only 21 years old.

His family’s old home in the village of Baryun later became damaged and empty.

Anil Baluni, a member of Parliament, wants to turn the house into a museum.

The museum would teach visitors about Rawat’s life and military service.

Rawat received the Maha Vir Chakra after his death for bravery.

The planned foundation ceremony is set for November 17.

Soil from the Jaswant Garh war memorial may be used in the foundation.
