Urea App Triggers Farmer Protests Over Fertiliser Access in Nizamabad
Farmers in Nizamabad are upset about a new digital system for getting urea.
Urea is a fertiliser farmers need for their crops.
They said 900 bags were shown as booked online in only two minutes.
They questioned how the stock could disappear so quickly.
Some farmers said their phones had weak internet connections.
Others said they were not comfortable using the application.
They also reported that the computer servers often stopped working.
Although officials said enough urea was available in the district, farmers still had to wait in long lines.
Farmer groups want the government to distribute urea manually again.
Farmers across Nizamabad district protested against the digital system used to distribute urea.
At Indalwai PACS, farmers said 900 urea bags appeared fully booked within two minutes.
They blamed poor connectivity, limited digital literacy and server crashes for disrupting access.
The protests spread to Nizamabad Rural, where cultivators held a dharna outside the cooperative society.
Farmer associations demanded an end to app-based distribution and a return to manual allocation.
