Kuki Group Accuses Manipur Assembly of Blocking Peace Efforts

A Kuki organisation in Manipur said the state assembly was not doing enough to build peace.

It accused the assembly of focusing on political issues instead of helping people affected by violence.

The group told Kuki-Zo lawmakers to stay away from the session.

It said this would prevent people from thinking that everything was normal.

However, a few Kuki-Zo lawmakers attended the session.

The assembly had recently passed a resolution asking the central government to update the National Register of Citizens in Manipur.

The organisation also said Kuki-Zo people were facing shortages of food, medicine, and basic services.

It accused state authorities of not responding adequately to these problems.
