Nagaland backs FNTA proposal, ENPO hails it
The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) is happy because the Nagaland Government has sent a request to the central government to create a special area called the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA).
This area would include six districts in the eastern part of Nagaland.
The ENPO thinks this is a big step forward.
The Nagaland Government supports giving more power to this area but does not want it to become a separate political entity.
They are worried about the central government's idea to give this area special status under a new law, similar to Article 370.
The ENPO president spoke at a festival in Noklak district and asked everyone to work together for the area's development and unity.
Nagaland Government has recommended the creation of FNTA to the Centre.
ENPO president A Chingmak Chang calls it a major step forward after a decade-long demand.
FNTA would comprise six eastern districts of Nagaland.
