BCCI Pulls Up Deshbandhu Park Over Poor Pitch, Halts Women's U-19 T20 Pre-Quarters
A cricket ground named Deshbandhu Park was not good enough to host an important game for young women cricketers.
The people in charge of cricket, called the BCCI, said the field was too bumpy and not safe for playing.
Because of this, two games had to be moved to a different field on very short notice.
The people in charge of the local cricket, the CAB, said the rain made it hard to fix the field on time.
They also mentioned that the person taking care of the field should have told them about the problems earlier.
This means Deshbandhu Park probably won't get to host any big games for a while.
The BCCI has pulled up Deshbandhu Park for failing to meet standards for the National Women's U-19 T20 Trophy pre-quarter finals.
The matches between Delhi-Uttar Pradesh and Andhra-Rajasthan were shifted to Aditya Academy ground in Barasat due to the poor pitch and outfield.
Match referees and umpires found the ground conditions unsatisfactory during an inspection.
The CAB cited extended monsoons and delayed work as reasons for the poor ground condition.
Deshbandhu Park is unlikely to be allotted any BCCI-level matches this season.
