Telangana HC Stays CAT Order on BrahMos DG Appointment
The Telangana High Court has temporarily stopped a decision that removed Dr. Jaiteerth R. Joshi from his job as the head of BrahMos Aerospace.
The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) had earlier said his appointment was unfair because another scientist, Dr. Sivasubramaniam Nambi Naidu, thought he should have gotten the job instead.
The High Court has now given both sides time to explain their positions.
The main argument is about who is more suitable for the job—someone with more experience or someone who fits the job's specific needs better.
The High Court will decide the final outcome after hearing both sides.
Telangana High Court stayed the CAT order quashing Dr. Jaiteerth R. Joshi's appointment as BrahMos DG.
CAT had found 'manifest arbitrariness' in Dr. Joshi's appointment, favoring Dr. Sivasubramaniam Nambi Naidu's claim.
High Court granted four weeks to Dr. Naidu and two weeks to the Union of India and Dr. Joshi to file replies.
Selection was based on technical acumen, managerial and leadership capability, not just seniority.
BrahMos Aerospace is a strategic unit, and the selection process aims to find the most suitable candidate.
