UPI to debut in Japan: India's digital payment network expands globally

India's UPI, a popular digital payment system, is coming to Japan.

A Japanese company called NTT Data is working with India's NPCI to let Indian tourists use UPI in Japan starting in 2026.

This means Indian visitors can pay directly from their Indian bank accounts without needing special cards or wallets.

UPI is already used in many countries and is very popular in India.

It's free to use and lets people pay with a single QR code.

The system is growing fast, with billions of transactions every year.
