Arunachal CM calls border residents 'first line of strength'

Two big countries, India and China, share a very long border.

Part of that border runs through a beautiful part of India called Arunachal Pradesh, where many small villages sit near the mountains.

Some local people in a remote area called Taksing said they saw Chinese soldiers coming closer to their villages.

They said the soldiers got within about 15 to 16 kilometers and were building roads and camps in places villagers use for hunting and gathering.

The leader of Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, said the villagers living near the border are very important.

He promised they would get good roads, facilities, and safety.

He also said he would check the villagers' reports with the Indian Army before deciding what really happened.

The Indian Army said the reports of Chinese soldiers coming closer were not correct.

Another group from the area did its own check and said it believed the soldiers really did come.

So people disagree on exactly what happened, but everyone agrees the villagers should stay safe and be heard.
