Vidyasagar University and ISRO Launch Weather Balloon for Research
Vidyasagar University, with help from ISRO, sent a giant balloon into the sky to learn about the weather.
This balloon is packed with tools to measure things like temperature and wind.
It flew very high and sent back information about the weather to help scientists.
The goal is to make weather forecasts more accurate and understand local weather patterns better.
This project will help in studying the weather around Medinipur and also helps to compare the real-time data with the data that is being sent from satellites.
Vidyasagar University launched a weather balloon with ISRO to gather real-time weather data.
The launch aimed to verify satellite data through on-ground observations.
The balloon reached a height of 27.831 kilometers and traveled 74.86 kilometers.
The project was supported by ISRO's National Remote Sensing Centre.
The launch took place on June 24, 2025, at 2:01 PM from the university's rooftop.
