Assam Village Receives CSIR Post-Flood Resilience Technologies
Floods damaged homes and other facilities in Junakimandal Village in Assam.
The CSIR Smart Village Mission sent scientists to study the damage.
They checked houses and suggested ways to make them safer and stronger.
The team also held a workshop for more than 150 residents and officials.
The workshop showed affordable housing technologies for flood-prone areas.
One solar system can provide hot water and help keep rooms comfortable while using less energy.
Small machines can make bricks and blocks using local materials and may create village jobs.
Local workers will also receive training in safer construction methods.
The CSIR Smart Village Mission began recovery interventions in flood-affected Junakimandal Village, Titabor, Jorhat, Assam.
A CSIR-CBRI team surveyed damaged houses and recommended structural and non-structural repairs, retrofitting and strengthening measures.
More than 150 residents and officials attended an Awas Saksham workshop on disaster-resilient housing under PMAY-G.
Demonstrated technologies included solar-assisted hybrid systems, portable brick-block machines and proposed air-disinfection equipment.
CSIR-CBRI plans to train local masons and construction workers in safer, scientific construction practices.
