Kerala Cabinet Approves Land Leases for Memorial Institutes
The Kerala government has decided to give land to build memorial institutes for two former ministers, K M Mani and Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
The land will be leased for 30 years.
K M Mani was a finance minister and the founder of a political party called Kerala Congress (M).
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was a state secretary and also served as the Home Minister.
The decision was made during a meeting led by the current Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan.
Some people think this might be related to upcoming elections, but the son of K M Mani says his party will continue to support the current government.
Kerala Cabinet approved leasing 25 cents of land in Kowdiar, Thiruvananthapuram for K M Mani Memorial Institute for Social Transformation.
The land will be leased for 30 years to the K M Mani Foundation.
Cabinet also approved leasing 1.139 acres of land in Vadikkakathu, Thalassery for Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Memorial Study and Research Centre.
The land will be leased to the Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Memorial Academy of Social Sciences (KBMASS) for 30 years.
K M Mani was a former finance minister and founder of Kerala Congress (M), a key constituent of the ruling LDF.
