Farmers Illegally Tap Water from Udhaya Samudram Canal

In Nalgonda district, farmers are illegally taking water from the Udhaya Samudram canal to water their crops because there hasn't been much rain.

This canal is supposed to store water for drinking in the future for over 350 villages.

The authorities have warned that this illegal water use will cause problems for drinking water in August and September.

They are releasing water from the Nagarjunasagar Project to fill the canal, but farmers are using more than 50 big pumps to take water for their fields.

The authorities say this is illegal and will take strict action if it continues.
