Assam Tea Workers Seek Jharkhand Support
A group of tea garden workers from Assam, who are originally from Jharkhand, met with Jharkhand's Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
They told him about the problems they face, like not having enough money, not being treated fairly, and not being able to keep their culture.
The Chief Minister listened and promised to help them.
He said Jharkhand will try to make sure they get better pay and help solve problems with their land.
He also said a team from Jharkhand will go to Assam to see how these workers are living.
A long time ago, these workers' families were brought to Assam by the British to work on tea plantations.
The Chief Minister had earlier asked Assam's Chief Minister to give these workers special status, but that hasn't happened yet.
Adivasi Samanvaya Samiti Bharat (Assam) met with Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren to discuss grievances of tea garden workers.
Workers allege neglect by the Assam government, leading to social, economic, and identity-related hardships.
Soren assured support for Adivasi culture, traditions, and rights, and committed to fair wage enhancement and land issue resolution.
A Jharkhand delegation will visit Assam to assess the conditions of tribal families settled there.
Tribals were originally taken to Assam from Jharkhand by the British to work in tea plantations.
