ED questions former MLA Anvar in loan probe
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned former MLA P V Anvar in Kochi about a loan of Rs 7.5 crore that was allegedly misused.
Anvar is linked to a company called Malamkulam Constructions, which took the loan.
The ED found that more loans were taken using the same property, making a total of Rs 22.3 crore that couldn't be repaid.
Anvar admitted he was the real owner of the company, even though it was registered under other names.
The ED is investigating because the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau found possible corruption in the loan process.
Anvar is now part of the All India Trinamool Congress.
Former MLA P V Anvar was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kochi regarding alleged loan misappropriation.
The ED is investigating a Rs 7.5 crore loan granted to Malamkulam Constructions, a firm linked to Anvar, in 2015.
Additional loans of Rs 3.05 crore and Rs 1.56 crore were sanctioned using the same collateral, resulting in a total non-performing asset (NPA) of around Rs 22.3 crore.
Anvar admitted to being the real beneficial owner of Malamkulam Constructions, which was registered in the names of his nephews and driver.
The ED identified 15 bank accounts allegedly used for suspicious transactions and initiated the probe following a corruption case registered by the Kerala Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
