New Waqf Portal to Exclude Unregistered Properties
The government is creating a new online system called the Central Waqf Portal to keep track of waqf properties.
Waqf properties are religious endowments.
The new portal will not include any properties that aren't registered.
The new system will use a three-step process to make sure the information is correct.
First, the caretaker enters the information (maker).
Second, a Waqf Board official checks it (checker).
Finally, a government authority approves it (approver).
The goal is to have accurate and clear records of these properties across India and replace existing system WAMSI.
Unregistered waqf properties will be excluded from the upcoming Central Waqf Portal.
The portal will replace the existing Waqf Assets Management System of India (WAMSI).
A three-tier verification system ('maker-checker-approver') will be used for data validation.
The Central Waqf Portal is being developed under the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025.
The portal aims to minimize discrepancies and increase transparency in waqf property records.
