Mumbai Lakes Near Full, Water Cuts Unlikely Next Season
Mumbai's lakes, which provide water to the city, are almost full.
This is because of heavy rain.
The lakes currently have enough water to last about 300 days.
This high water level means that the city is unlikely to have water restrictions in the next season.
The lakes filled up earlier than usual this year because of early monsoon rains and good rainfall in May.
They did slow down for a while but received a significant boost from heavy August rains.
Mumbai's seven water supply lakes are nearly 99% full.
The total water stock is at 14.30 lakh million litres.
This is the highest level in the past three years.
The lakes have sufficient water to meet Mumbai's needs for the next 300 days.
Water cuts are unlikely next season due to high lake levels.
