Flock introduces police oversight rules after surveillance tool abuse

Flock is a company that puts cameras on roads to take pictures of cars and their license plates.

Police use these pictures to help solve crimes.

But some police officers used the cameras for bad reasons, like watching drivers or people they knew.

That caused some officers to lose their jobs or get arrested.

Because of this, Flock is making new safety rules.

Now police must type in a case number to explain why they are looking at the pictures.

If someone searches in a strange way, they will be locked out until a supervisor checks.

Flock will also keep pictures for only seven days instead of 30 days.

Police can keep pictures longer if they are part of a real case.

The CEO hopes these changes will help people trust the police again.
